In EVER SO SLIGHTLY, choreographer Victor Quijada explores the behavioural mechanisms and reflexes we develop against the ceaseless flow of irritants that bombard us in our daily lives. Most of us long for calm and resilience, but how do we get to a zone where noise and aggression can no longer find us? Simultaneously delivering delicacy, brutality, finesse and high-voltage action, the choreographer conveys the energy contained in urgency, revolt and chaos, bringing it into dialogue on stage with 10 dancers and two musicians.
EVER SO SLIGHTLY earned big accolades when it opened in Vancouver in October 2021.
Born in 1976, VICTOR QUIJADA grew up with hip hop in Los Angeles. After training as a dancer and performing in a number of engagements, he developed his own method, which he named after the ensemble he founded in 2002: RUBBERBAND. It combines floor-based urban dance with partnering and contemporary ballet.
